Earlier this week Mountain View’s company sent a sorry message to the few users of its VPN service tossed to Google One account holders. This notice which was emailed on 9th December 2020 communicated a mid-way roadmap of this feature.
VPN Service Details
A new VPN service was labelled the same name and made available only to users of a $10 monthly plan starting from 2 terabytes of storage in 2020. However, Google has gone on to offer VPN to consumers with Google One plans operating at $2 per month which has increased accessibility to VPN service for every consumer as this is the basic plan.
An underutilized service
As of now, Google is serving the VPN feature in 22 countries and all the users from iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows for installation and usage. Yet, Google has said that it is not revealing when the facility will terminate completely. As per the intelligence gathered by 9to5Google, a reason for removing this function could be its diminished popularity according to the festival. In a bid to concentrate on portions of Google One that would grabs the eyeballs of users, Google removed the customer support from Google One.
Keeping Pixels’ free VPN
The final nail-biting moment for VPN users is not here. To be precise, the fact that those who are using the device with Pixel are free from VPN service, Google One will stop and even after the discontinuation happens, the users will continue to enjoy this service. It is no more difficult: simply the users go to the “Settings” app on the Pixel 7 and other model where they will find it.
