OpenAI keeps its word. As promised, the company has just released its ChatGPT app for Android. Just like the iOS version, you can talk to generative AI to get tips, answers, and other useful content. You can make voice queries using OpenAI’s speech recognition, sync chat history between your devices, and export your data. The only thing missing at the moment is extensions.
The ChatGPT app is now available on Android
ChatGPT Plus subscribers can also choose between GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 language models as they wish. No matter which plan you use, you need a device running Android 6.0 or higher to use the app.
This should still make ChatGPT more accessible, especially in countries where Android dominates and where PCs are less prevalent. The app has been available on the iPhone since May and was updated some time later to support the iPad.
This should help to further spread generative AI
As with Bing Chat, which is powered by GPT-4, Bard, and other conversational AI systems, we can’t advise you to “believe” everything the AI tells you. The technology is still prone to “hallucinations,” which can lead to false claims, deficient contextual logic, and other unreliable or unreliable elements. ChatGPT is more useful as a starting point for a design task, so you just need to check it out and dig into it. Or for creative assignments when you absolutely don’t need accuracy and truth.
OpenAI has greatly contributed to popularizing generative AI via tools like ChatGPT, but it has also led the industry to worry a lot and attract the attention of politicians. Many experts fear that these technologies could take control of or promote false information. OpenAI itself is trying to reduce the risks of such intelligent AI. Governments, for their part, are already pushing for responsible development and a real legal framework.
